Romain Wident
I’m Romain Wident, a French automotive engineer from the north of France, driven by the pursuit of performance in all its forms. From engineering and motorsport to data analysis, trackside experience, sim racing, photography, and music, I am constantly looking for ways to understand systems, refine details, and push things further.
Today, I see engineering as more than technical knowledge alone. It is a way of thinking built on precision, consistency, problem-solving, and the constant pursuit of better performance.
Who I Am
Performance is the common thread running through everything I do. For me, it is not only about speed, but also about clarity, efficiency, control, and the ability to make the right decision in demanding environments.
That mindset shapes the way I approach automotive engineering, motorsport, simulation, and creative work. I enjoy understanding how systems behave, how data reveals hidden opportunities, and how small refinements can lead to meaningful results.
The Pursuit Of Performance
Motorsport is not just an interest of mine, it is an environment I actively engage with. As a track marshal, I have experienced the discipline, awareness, and teamwork required to operate in high-pressure trackside situations.
Working with flag procedures and incident response has given me another perspective on racing: one that combines safety, fast reactions, communication, and operational precision. Experiences such as Silverstone have reinforced my respect for the people and processes that keep motorsport running smoothly.
Trackside Experience
Photography is another way I connect with the automotive world. Through the lens, I am drawn to movement, details, atmosphere, and the visual intensity that surrounds performance-driven environments.
It allows me to document cars, circuits, and moments with the same attention to detail that I bring to engineering. In many ways, it is another form of observation and analysis — only expressed visually.
Capturing Motion
Sim racing is one of the ways I continue developing racecraft, technical thinking, and performance analysis. I spend a lot of time on Le Mans Ultimate, using each session as an opportunity to improve consistency, decision-making, and execution.
I also analyse telemetry through MoTeC to review laps, compare data, and identify where time can be gained. For me, sim racing is not only entertainment — it is a practical extension of the analytical mindset I bring to engineering and motorsport.
Sim Racing
Outside engineering and motorsport, I also produce and mix hardstyle music under the name Venturi. This project reflects another side of my personality, while still staying connected to the same ideas of rhythm, energy, structure, and control.
The name Venturi carries a double meaning that feels deeply personal to me. It references an iconic French automotive name, while also recalling the Venturi effect in engineering — a connection that brings together my identity as a French engineer, my passion for automobiles, and my interest in building something creative of my own.
